Each year, the textile company Spoonflower donates 10% of it’s receipts on Giving Tuesday to one non-profit. This year’s recipient was A Lotta Love! The $30k donation was in addition to their in-kind donations of comforters, curtains, and many volunteer hours throughout the year. Learn more about this beautiful collaborative effort.

2020 Governor’s Key Volunteer Service Award

The Key Volunteer of the Year program recognizes the best of volunteerism in the Greater Triangle, presented by the Triangle Nonprofit & Volunteer Leadership Center. The 2020 award honors A Lotta Love’s service at Families Moving Forward. Between 2015-2019, A Lotta Love contributed $70,000 and all necessary volunteers from more than 25 local businesses & organizations to remake 62 guest rooms and a large family room, as well as a massive renovation of the programming kitchen.

Lotta accepted the Outstanding Partnership Award on behalf of all our volunteers at this year’s Families Moving Forward Chef’s for a Change Gala in Durham, NC. With over 50 room makeovers in 4 years, including complete lounge and kitchen renovations, we have made a difference for hundreds of families in need of a home away from home.

Our shelter-partner Raleigh Rescue Mission gets a ‘Design for a Difference’ makeover. As part of the International Guild’s Designer Program, Design For A Difference pulls together locally owned and operated showrooms to make great design available to all. Led by Betty Eatman Nelson of Eatman’s Carpets & Interiors, advised by A Lotta Love on shelter renovations, 45 designers from across the Triangle renovated the entire children’s wing at RRM, including a mural designed & painted by A Lotta Love volunteers Vicky Barone and Loren Pease.

Lotta Sjoelin discusses the refurbishment project at Wrenn House with Walter Magazine. Thanks to $30,000 grant from the Women’s Giving Network of Wake County and countless hours & materials donated by volunteers and contractors, the project went on to spur action in shelters in Raleigh, Durham, Wake, Orange, and Mecklenburg counties.
